Valaida Snow...
In 1935 Valaida Snow, the Afro/American jazz performer recorded in London for the first time with a group of modern jazz, leaning British musicians. Valaida was a jazz singer and trumpet player in the style of Louis Armstrong. She was a very talented musician playing a number of instruments to a professional standard and had a following in Europe and the USA. She recorded in London in 1935, 1936 and 1937 and from then until 1942 she recorded in France, Sweden and Denmark. She was then arrested by the Nazis and imprisoned and on her release in 1945 she returned to the US and continued her recording career there until 1953.

Poor Butterfly was a test recording and was unnissued prior to it's inclusion in a compilation CD many years later...
